WISE AMPHIBIOUS WELL INTERVENTION, SOUTH LOUISIANA
|
| When wells were originally drilled in the
coastal areas along the U.S. Gulf Coast, they were reached
via dredged access channels. Over the years, as hurricanes
reshaped the coastline and rivers have deposited enormous
amounts of silt, those channels have become unnavigable
to anything other than airboats. As a result, thousands
of wells in the coastal marshes have been inaccessible
to conventional coiled tubing equipment, because dredging
is prohibitively expensive and is considered environmentally
harmful. An exclusive WISE™ capability is servicing
these marshland wells from a tracked, environmentally
friendly amphibious vehicle. No other coiled tubing/nitrogen
systems meet the size and weight requirements of these
purpose-built vehicles, which swim through shallow water
and crawl over marshy terrain to reach formerly unreachable
wells. |

 |
| Rigged up and running on a well in the
Atchafalaya River basin, southern Louisiana. This is one
of four wells that had been shut in and inaccessible since
the 1980s. The WISE amphibious spread accessed and reentered
all four wells in only 10 working days, including rig-up/rig-down
and mobilizing from well to well. |

 |
| The amphibious vehicles traverse shallow
waters and marshy terrain. Here the WISE unit is preparing
to rig up on one of the wells that had been shut in for
more than 20 years. |
